Joey is great, funny, very immature, and a practical joker.  He had the hots for Stephanie Kaye, he befriends Rick in "The Cover Up", puts up posters of half-clad ladies in "Censored", and then fails grade 8.
His best friends are Snake and Wheels, but he was friends with Wheels from the start of Degrassi.  He is the kind of character that is obnoxious, and a joker, but nice and sincere.  He seems to be the main character in the whole Degrassi series.  He is best friends with Wheels, Snake, BLT, the twins, and Lucy.
He has had a crazy crush on Liz through the many years at Degrassi. His immaturity was clearly depicted in the famous episode "Great Expectations", which won an award for
Pat Mastroianni. He was interested in Liz, the new student in school, for she was different with her appealing looks, her mysterious character, and her shaved head with long shaggy bangs in front. Liz began to like Joey's personality, and Joey thought that since Liz looked like "she did it", then he would want to experience his first sexual encounter with her.

He buys condoms and goes to her home expecting sex, but she does not turn out to be the "easy girl" that the school thinks of her. Joey admits to Wheels that he realy liked her.

Joey is really an immature, innocent, and child-like character. He is annoying, but not hated, because he is not malicious, but just annoying to be with. In the third season his band "The Zit Remedy" picks up some speed, but Wheels parents' die, and they have to stop playing for a while.

Caitlin becomes interested in Joey, for his looks, his laid-back, funny character, and his charm. She falls head over heels for him, but later finds herself just used. Joey only thought of her as a friend, and he did not realize that he hurt her. He represents the typical teenage male in the fact that he is playful, immature, and irresponsible.

In Degrassi High, he faces the facts that he cannot always have a happy-go-lucky- kind of life. Caitlin dumps him for Claude, and he find out that he has a learning disibility. He feels depressed and dumb, and he wants to give up, but he doesn't. He has matured.

Joey is a character that everyone loves and everyone hates.  He buys his first car in the season premiere of Term 5 (Bad Blood), he roams naked through the school cafeteria to get money for his car, then gets caught.
