Liz O'Rourke was one of the shadows of Degrassi. She was quiet, looked different than the rest of the students there, and had little friends. She seemed to be a loner, and not interested in making friends with the "preps" of Degrassi. She seems to be wear of people's trust, and we can see this later in the fifth season of Degrassi when we find out that she was sexually abused by her mother's boyfriend.

Liz befriends Spike in the second season, as they both were the unique different students of Degrassi Junior High. Their friendship quickly blossomed, and Spike became less close to Heather and Erica
