Lucy Fernandez (Anais Granofsky)

Lucy is a really troubled
character. Thr actress who plays her, Anais Granofsky also
played Karen Gillis in the Kids of Degrassi Street. The chatacter
of Lucy is more developed and we see a evolution in her character
over the years.
We first see Lucy as this rebel, who basically lives alone, does
what she wants, and seems to be neglected by her "hard
working parents". She also seems to be a hotshot spoiled
brat, who seems to know the world, but inside she is a sad
teenager. She shoplifts in "What a Night", and then she
gets sexually assaulted in "A Helping Hand" and then
Mr. Colby comes back to haunt Lucy and seek Susie in "He's
Back". She gets involved with the older guys from
Borden High like Paul and Clutch. She goes with both of
them, but Paul only wants sex, and Lucy is not ready ot give it
to him, and Clutch is a drunk, who is sort of violent when he is
drunk. Later on, Lucy finds herself dumping her friends
L.D., Heather, and Erica when she goes out with Paul, and there
are rumours that she slept with him when really she did not.
In the second season we see how dysfunctional Lucy is, her
parents who work and are never home, her ongoing parties, in
"Eggbert", "It's Late", and
"Party!" Lucy is a loner who is very independent.
Even in "The Dance", we see Lucy telling
Heather, Erica, and Stephanie how much she drinks, and so we see
that she seems more mature than the rest of the gang. In
reality, she is troubled and she needs to talk to a
psychologist. In the School's Out final film she goes
blind, because she is involved in a car accident with Wheels, who
gets arrested and goes to jail.
Lucy is all for her principles about sexism and she displays this. She is a powerful speaker, as she was class Valedictorian of her graduating class at Degrassi High. She, like Caitlin are smart, and successful, hard working students, who will go far in life.
