Christine "Spike" Nelson was one of the main characters in the Degrassi Series. She also was a very young teen mother in the series. She got pregnant in the middle of the 1st season of Degrassi when one of Lucy's famous parties got Spike and Shane all excited in a dark bedroom. They both experienced their first sexual encounter, and Spike thought that one could not get pregnant the first time one has sex.

Well she did get pregnant, and we see her struggle through the series dealing with her pregnancy, and her difficulties with it. The Parent and Teachers Association wanted her out because she was supposedly setting a bad example for the school. Caitlin tried to fight for her, by setting up a protest letter, but Spike did not want her issue to become public news.

When Emma was born, Spike had to find the time to juggle school and take care of her baby. Shane wanted to be involved, and asked if he could help out with child support. He later missed out in payments to go see the Gourmet Scum concert, and later took acid, and jumped off a bridge, leaving permanent head injuries.
